Harbinger of a dark Soulslike reborn
Mortal Shell II is a standalone sequel to Mortal Shell, an action-RPG steeped in Soulslike inspiration. Developed by Cold Symmetry, this grim, dark fantasy RPG retains its signature shell-possession mechanic while expanding into a compact, interconnected open world adorned with twisted landscapes, hidden dungeons, and haunting landmarks. It promises a punishing return and a rewarding experience.
Reborn and revamped
Combat in Mortal Shell II evolves into something faster and more aggressive than before. Gone is the stamina bar. Players now rely on unrestricted, fluid movement with an emphasis on shattering enemy posture and striking critically at opportune moments. Enhanced execution mechanics and deep weapon design offer players tactical freedom, whether engaging in brutal melee or utilizing new ranged instruments.
The world of Mortal Shell is intentionally compact yet richly layered. Spanning derelict temples, frozen tombs, forbidden forests, and bone-carved citadels, the map connects over 60 handcrafted dungeons. The narrative centers on the Harbinger, destined to reclaim sacred "Ova" stolen from the Undermether and guarded by monstrous foes.
A dark rebirth awaits
Mortal Shell II builds on the foundation of its predecessor with faster combat, fluid mechanics, and a richly interconnected world. Its haunting environments and shell-possession system promise both familiarity and innovation, while the removal of stamina breathes new life into the formula. However, the game has sluggish controls and a limited weapon and enemy variety.
